About Julie Parsons, LCSW-C

Julie is an LCSW-C with a Masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. Her practice is targeted at working with teens, and adults struggling with disordered eating and eating disorders. She helps clients resolve issues of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, self esteem, themes often relevant to one's relationship with food and their body. She works with couples and families as well as leading groups. Working with the whole person in mind, Julie's practice focuses on not only the person, but also the person's environment and how it could be contributing to his or her issues. Using an interpersonal approach to her practice in the style of integrative therapist, Julie draws out the strength and learning styles of her clients, choosing strategies which fit each individual client best. Among others, several approaches at which she is skilled include Cognitive-behavioral therapy, Experiential therapy, Systems Theory, Psychodynamic therapy and Mindfulness training.

"Julie’s clients love her and she loves them. She gives of her very essence to help them in their healing. She inspires them to be strong, grounded, and to claim their competence and confidence. She sustains and nurtures her clients who are depleted from diseases like anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating syndrome. Julie literally provides some of our university students with the capacity to make it through another week so they can study, learn, and work to the best of their ability, while struggling with serious, often life-threatening, diseases." -Vicky Foxworth, Director of the Center for Leadership and Organizational Change
