Julie Parsons, LCSW-C helps people feel better. She brings warmth and wisdom to the process of change, employing her significant experience in the treatment of eating disorders, depression and anxiety.

Julie is a clinical social worker, fully licensed to provide a full range of psychotherapy. She maintains a private practice, working with a wide range of people experiencing a variety of concerns.  Before going into private practice she was a therapist and eating disorders specialist at the University of Maryland,College Park Health Center for 17 years.  For the 6 years preceding her work at UMD, she provided therapy for clients of the Prince George's County Department of Family Services, and the Pathways Schools in Silver Spring, Maryand. She has helped thousands of young people and their families in individual, family and group therapy.  Julie approaches her clients with a sense of awe at their unique journey.  She believes that a different therapy must be constructed for each client because each has a unique story.

Julie’s influence at the University extended to numerous campus-wide programs, including the Eating Disorders Outreach Program, of which she was the Director.  In this program Julie taught students in recovery how to speak to students in campus groups, classes and residence halls.  These presentations reached those who were struggling with an eating disorder who may not otherwise have come in for help. She is a skilled presenter and researcher on the topics of eating disorders and relationships.
